This past August I was invited by the Local Design Circle a Bucharest based group of professional designers that help create a proper growth environment for our community, to be part of their project within the Romaninan Design Week 2020. RO42 - Forme Locale is an initiative for 42 designers to reimagine the flags of the 41 counties and the captial city of Romania. I was asked to create the flag of my hometown Bucharest.
For the graphic representation of the counties, the participants had as common theme the construction of images from the basic geometric shapes: circle, square, triangle, but with the possibility to create other shapes through intersections, overlaps or resizing. I decided to reimagine architectural elements in abstract colourful pattern.
